huntch3
Hi everyone I'm trying to save a render as an AI (adobe illustrator file) so that it saves the lines as vectors only....but when i go to choose the file type to save as, ever possible file type except ai shows up in the list...I have illiustrator...what am I missing??! thanks
SandmanNinja
I don't think 3ds can output it's renders as vectors. I know I use to use a programmed called "Corel Draw" years ago and it had a CorelTrace that did a pretty good job. Check AI - there must be a similar tool in there. Crazy Homeless Guy
I have a friend that uses Illustrate!. I was fairly impressed with the vector lines it was putting out, and will purchase the next time I need this. There is a demo version... http://www.davidgould.com/Illustrate/IllustrateForMax/Illustrate53.htm ....Technically, if your using MR, you can render directly to a postscript file when using the contour shaders. The PS file can be opened in Illustrator, but the data is pretty much junk.

You will probbaly have to play around with the settings to get anything close to decent though.
Peter M. Gruhn
Agree with Travis on both "will get Illustrate" (even though it seems to have halted development) and that the MR EPS output is essentially useless. Pencil looks good too. I hate being poor ;-).
