importing Lightscape files - error

I just bought FormZ. The first thing I need it for is to import a Lightscape model of mine so I can save it out with blocks intact. So far this has not worked. I get an error of 'unexpected keyword' and FZ stops without importing anything. Any ideas of what to do to get FZ to read this file?

Otherwise I get to completly re-build it in CAD.

I already emailed the one forum member that I know uses LS and FZ, but if he isn't around I must start re-building from scratch today, so maybe someone else has an idea for me.

Thanks in advance...

Ernest, formZ has a very active forum at formz.com. And their technical support is excellent, via telephone, forum, or email (no support nights/weekends). Telephone works great - a live person answers and 99% of the time is able to connect to a tech support person right away.

hey ernest,

i'm usually always going the opposite way {z-to lightscape} , but when you import the .lp file in form-z, under the lightscape options, click the block options button (which i'm sure you already had) it's worked best for me if i have 'explode insertions' checked as well as the 'import referenced block definitions' box checked also. the 'add blocks to new library' option is a bit suspect. sometimes works on simple models, hardly works with complex ones...

heres a pic of settings http://www.cgarchitect.com/forum/filepush.asp?file=fmz-lscape.jpg

it might take some reworking in lightscape to put your blocks on seperate layers for ex/import, but will save countless hours of rebuilding.

what version of z are you using (please don't say 4...) ? tried 4, but was way too buggy to mess with... 3.9 is most stable/least buggy since 2.9.5 ..

anyways, just saw your post, hope it's not too late to be some kind of help.. (as a last resort, could email me file, i could try to convert.)

good luck!

ed
