WAcky
I think if you go to your material editor and click the button that usually opens up the library, then select the option "scene" This should list all the materials in the scene whether they're in the material editor or not. I'm not sure if this will work as I'm not on a pc with max atm.

WAcky
An overbright material is not a missing map. It's more than likely a standard material in the scene that Vray is not happy with.

braddewald
It seems I always get an invalid or overbright material. I can find it by going to the material editor and clicking the 'get material' button and going to "browse from > scene". Because v-ray should name the material that is giving the overbright quality, you should be able to find it by name. To replace it with a valid material, load it into one of the material editor slots and where it says "architectural" or "standard" or whatever type of material it is (should be under the "go to parent" icon) click it and instead pick a valid v-ray material. Hope this fixes it.
