Linear workflow in Vray sp3a

I'm a bit confused with these....In the new vray version, If you are using linear color mapping and gamma 2.2, do you still need to check the linear workflow check box?

No, the check box as far as I am aware is supposed to be a one-click button to convert a scene that wasn't set up using LWF. Vlado has said that it is not a substitute for a proper linear setup, therefore it is probably best ignored.

hmmmm....didn't the guys over at Chaos invent LWF...are they and you saying that its not a proper setup ?

I don't think anyone invented LWF. I think it was created by necessity but by who I'm not sure.

 

Like a bunch of settings in Vray, this one is usable in particular situations, but not recommended

 

I have used this setting once during the time I was transitioning over to LWF. I had to do some changes on an old non-LWF file so I decided to try out this LWF check box and it worked for me. That was the only time I've ever used it.

 

I think using and even discussing this setting is only going to confuse everyone about LWF even more!
