wrt
Hello hope everyone's well. Any V-Ray users in or around Portland, OR : ) ? Peace and thanks, Bill Edited September 11, 2009 by wrt Feedback on my post was that my question was too too general, updated to reflect feedback : ). Tommy L
William, Thats a very convoluted question. What are you asking? Should you go freelance? Should you set up a business? Should you look for a job? I think these are all questions you should be asking of yourself, rather than throwing out to an online community who doesnt know you or your skills/capabilities. wrt
Tommy, I very much appreciate your feedback, being new to the forum. I also happen to agree very much with what you're saying. I've simplified my initial/original question tremendously based on your suggestion. These are complicated times in some ways so simplifying certainly helps all around : ). Thanks again for your feedback and I really enjoyed checking out your work, amazing. Have a great weekend, Bill
wrt
My next question is also, how does one change the title of the post or delete it so that I can start the question over and not waste folks time (i.e. so they can filter by title). Sorry for the newbie forum user question/fails all : ). Thanks so much, Bill
Tommy L
haha, thats a very different question Im a vray user, that wants to go to Portland! Ive heard such nice things about the place. I heard there's 28 microbreweries in the city, great food, thriving art scene and that the surrounding area is beautiful. Sorry if my response came off a bit harsh. Short, to the point posts tend to generate better answers imo.
wrt
Tommy, Ha well come on over to Portland we need more CG talent! Portland is all that they say that it is. I suppose a little rainy in the winter (but inside working anyway) but really the summers are perfect and overall warmer than Seattle. Amazing food scene at all scales and lots of friendly people. Once architectural and/or other CG budgets come back online it should regain it's status as one of the most lovely west coast cities in my mind at least! : ) In the short term time I would venture to say that I suffer from mild professional isolation as an architectural CG professional haaaaa, hence my particular "big question"... how to potentially stay in Portland and continue to up the cg architecture career ante. Yeah currently assessing all of the routes that you mentioned, and considering the possibility also though in the end that it might mean moving. Since it all of course starts and ends with similar hearted / like minded individuals, I think what I'll do is create another post with the updated title starting with the the simple question attempting to locate other vray / 3ds max folks in the area. Thank goodness for this site for some of us that are a bit more remote relative to cities that have a little more CG density. ...and definitely thank you again for your advice in starting with smaller questions, I really do appreciate it. You were not harsh at all, you were just trying to help and if one can't take a critique the design field would be a rough road, so I appreciate the suggestions : ) If you need to know anything about Portland most certainly let me know.
