acjwalker
I have always added my reflections in in photoshop though I can say I am never 100% happy with them. Has anyone got any tips for placing reflections in my windows?
Dave Buckley
image in reflection map slot of glass material??? not sure if that would work? perhaps attached all windows together tomake one object, then do it? just find suitable environment image. alos add larger noise map to bump slot i've not tried that yet was just first thoughts
acjwalker
I put a HDR Image in the reflection slot in the render settings, it does reflect it but it doesnt, give a nice result its just makes the reflections look very flat. wasteland giant
doesn't anyone else use reflection (textures) maps on a plane? I do....
Dave Buckley
yep thats another method i have used, your reflections look flat in the windows using hdri method coz the glass is flat, add the large noise map to the bump channel and it should give a bit of depth, or as wasteland said, curved plane around behind the camera that can be seen only in reflections
acjwalker
what sort of results do you get? got any examples?
Nic H
you can always do a pure reflect pass for you windows, then adjust to suit in post. position your hdri and /or image planes and....render. much quicker than trying to 'do it all in one'
WAcky
what sort of results do you get? got any examples? I use planes with trees mapped on then. vfriaf
Make a mask for your windows. White selfilumination material for glass, pure black for other objects. Past it in channels in PS. Ctrl + click on this channel and copy your reflection into new layer. Overlay it and play with Ctrl+L and Ctrl+U
carlotristan3d
always did my reflections in ps as it allows more control. however in reality, the area where shadows fall on the glass is transparent.
