TeaCup - Online Asset Sharing Inside MAX

TeaCup is a free online asset sharing system for 3D Studio MAX, that has the peculiarity of being fully integrated with the program. What this means is that you can upload and download materials and objects directly from/to your scene very easily.

It works like any of the dozens of webpages with downloadable content (vraymaterials.de for instance), but by being a part of the program it makes the process several times more streamlined. Once you've found a result you want, just double clicking it can import it into your scene, and uploading it's just a matter of selecting what you want to upload, everything else is taken care of automatically.

Hopefully as the script develops, so will the asset database, making our all jobs easier by giving us a collective pool of resources.

QUICK-START GUIDE:

1- Create a TeaCup folder in your 3d Studio Scripts folder, and put the contents of the attached file there (it will not work otherwise).

2- Run the script.

3- You'r gonna need to register an account to use the script. Hit the configuration button and hit Create Account. Enter your info. An email will be sent to you promptly with a confirmation link.

4- Once your account has been activated, fill the email and password fields and hit the Save Changes button to close the configuration panel.

5- You are now ready to upload/download.

CURRENT STATUS:

This is the first public release of TeaCup. It's stable and robust enough to be usable, yet a lot of features are disabled and I'm certain there's a great deal of bugs roaming the code. Right now the script is only capable of sharing materials, but we intend to extend it so that also mesh objects can be shared. WE ARE STILL TRYING OUT SOLUTIONS AND MAKING CHANGES SO IT'S VERY POSSIBLE THAT WE MIGHT HAVE TO FLUSH THE DATABASE AND LOOSE EVERYTHING IN IT... YOU'VE BEEN WARNED.

At this point we are mostly interested in finding bugs, and getting some ideas on how to extend the functionality and improve on the program. If you have something to comment on these points either post here or email me at mbrunetta@gmail.com
