chow choppe Posted September 20, 2009 Share Posted September 20, 2009 hi i just wanted to know that i am trying to put an avi file in diffuse slot of my material which is to be used for texturing screen of an LCD TV but i am not able to use any avi file. its just not attaching it to the difuse slot or any other slot. I dont get any error but when i try to click open the avi file by using browse button i keep selecting the avi file and clicking on open but nothing is happening.do i need to install any file format plugin for 3dsmax? please help thanks Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

DanGrover Posted April 27, 2010 Share Posted April 27, 2010 I would strongly recommend re-exporting the video as a series of images, and loading the sequence in instead. Otherwise, you need the entire AVI in memory the whole time. With an image sequence, only the relevant frame is in memory. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
PiXeL_MoNKeY Posted April 27, 2010 Share Posted April 27, 2010 What version of 3ds Max are you using? Are you using 32bit or 64bit? Do you have the needed codec in the required bit version? Just like other plugins the codecs must be bit compatible with the verison you are using. webster Posted May 1, 2010 Share Posted May 1, 2010 thankyou for helping me. iam using 3ds max 2010 32 bit and my PC is AMD Athlon X2 with 512 Mb graphic card(NVIDIA GEFORCE 8200) And i have already try this in 3ds max 9 also, but the result is same.I have just formated my PC but the problem remains unchanged. what should i do. Does the .avi play in Windows Media Player (don't use 3rd party tools like VLC or MPC as they have tools for playing media even when the codec isn't installed)?
