reptar
Hi, im trying to emulate the material used for baths, toilets, bathroom sinks. Please see attached image. Thanks!
DanGrover
I'd say it looks pretty good, but i'd be tempted to make it a bit more reflect. Give it a custom IOR and set it to 0.95 at the end and, I don't know, maybe 0.5 at the start? See how that look looks. It might be a bit too reflective then, but personally that's probably what I'd do.
reptar
My apologies, but this is an example off the internet and not mine. Was just using it as an example for the look of the material for the bath tub i am trying to replicate. Any ideas how to create this material. Perhaps as an arch & Design shader? Thankyou. Dave Buckley
here are the settings that i used in the following pic http://davebuckleyportfolio.wordpress.com/2009/09/06/dwayne-ellis-bathroom-scene/ (not trying to promote myself either and sorry for the small image) but if you also use the ceramic pro material then there is an option for porcelain in there too. these settings are not mine, the material was shared by Jeff Patton on his blog a while ago, during a stage in which i was in dire need of some help with materials too
reptar
Awesome thankyou, i'll have a play around with those settings. Just wondering where does one locate the ceramic pro material section in max?
Dave Buckley
assuming you are using max 2009 or later open material editor hit the 'get material button' (red in screenshot) from the list that pops up, double click (promaterials: ceramic) (green in screenshot) then from the drop down list next to where it says 'type' choose 'porcelain' (blue in screenshot)
