new_xieland
Hi Guys, Wondering if you could please advise me on this issue. Basically I am rendering in Rhino 4 via Vray 1.5. I have chosen a HDRI image for my environment lighting while also having GI checked. The problem is that all my material's bump maps disappear Now I know that essentially bump maps needs a directional light to be in place as it is essentially a faked effect. My question is that how can I get the bump maps to work under my current lighting setup? Do I really have to resort to pointing a directional light into my scene? Please refer to the attached image and notice how the stone texture is very flat. Also in Max it is possible to map a HDRI image to a Vray Dome Light - something I have yet to work out how to achieve in Rhino. Does anyone know if that's possible in Rhino? Cheers, Robbo
Nic H
hmm i was going to suggest dome light....sorry im not familiar with rhino vray. can you use crazy bump and make a few normal maps of some of the most prominent bump maps?
vfriaf
what about vraydisplacement?
new_xieland
what about vraydisplacement? Yeah I already tried that but it had no effect... It's okay - no major dramas; guess I'll just have to import the model and do the renderings in max.
