ABK
Hi everyone, Does anyone know of a good tutorial explaining how to animate a line in 3DS Max? What i'd like to do is keyframe the points individually. In softimage you do this by creating clusters of points and assigning them to a dummy object. You then keyframe the dummy objects and the line is animated. Struggling to find how to do this in max though. Any ideas? Cheers, Antony
WL500GP
Hi, very long time since i did this sort of stuff, but I would recommend looking into linked xforms, Xforms which you then assign to "dummy's", you have to select the diff verts while in subobj mode then assign a linked xform, in the xfrom modifier you select the dummy at respective vert, and then continouing up the stack, adding xforms to verts assigning them to dummys, might be way better methods now to do this in max but as i recall it this is how i made this sort of things way back Cheers, k. SandmanNinja
What do you want the line to do? Grow? Shrink? move? wiggle?

WL500GP
ehh, make that linked xforms simple scene attached hmm, wouldn't bones be a better option for book pages deformation? might get weird rubberry things going, or are you using the splineIKsolver and want to control the spline driving the bone chain? cheers, k. vfriaf
You are joking. Just press N, go to the frame needed and animate any vertex as you wish. Keyframe will be created for the vertex automatically in same way as you do it for whole object.
