Sawyer
Quick question. A coworker just deleted a complete project. Well he deleted it and then made a backup. We may have the back up that is 1 week older and we may not. Anyone have experiance with this stuff? Any good advice. On top of it our winback up is apparently not working. Thanks
Ernest Burden III
A coworker just deleted a complete project. Well he deleted it and then made a backup. How do you backup something that was just deleted? Do not do ANYTHING on that machine until you have solved the problem to avoid overwriting the sectors, making recovery impossible. The obvious: look in the 'recycle bin', for a normal delete it will all still be there, easy restore. OK, you KNEW that, so... In a similar situation I bought and used a program to find and restore deleted files not in the recycle bin. I bought active-undelete and it worked very well. My files were not recently deleted so my success was limited but it worked as expected. Good luck
Sawyer
This is an odd situation - as I do not do the back ups I don't know how they work but I thought we were 3 times redundant. Now everthing seems to have failed at once. Winbackup is not restoring anything, and the cd that contained older backups seems bad. Thank you Ernest the product you mentioned is along the lines of what I was looking for. I hope that works.
