archkre
One has the blessing of having orders for 4 different houses (of around sq.ft.3,000 each) still CG renderings for different clients. From the first conversation with the client untill the final payment no less than one week in the best scenario. So, with a little luck, one can finish 4 houses in one month and let's say we billed $1,000 per house, so we made $4.000 less expenses. But if next month you receive 5 or more works, your bussiness starts to get complicated: what to do? You can work as a convict trying to fullfill with everything, or hire somebody. Always remember the old saying:" Hire slowly, fire fast"! If you hire somebody qualified, your profit will decrease unless you exploit the person. If you hire a rookie, you are going to do worse ,devoting your time to train the kid, taking the time from what you are doing. A complete disaster! Needless to say, according to this line of thinking the possibilities of making $$$ and the old :"practice & progress" in this activity is extremely limited, or as the economists say "it has a very low plafond". I wish am wrong, maybe you have other formulae which I ignore! May the forces of nature enlighten your ways! I would like to know Mr. Wright's ideas on this topic! archkre
Many reasons are contributing to drop prices down at least in South Florida: * Thousands of immigrant Architects from foreign countries drag the price down, accepting anything for a job. ** Outsourcing the renderings and animations over the Internet. I've heard of very well known Arch's ordering not only viz-work, but complete working drawing sets for projects within U.S.to offices in India, Pakistan, etc., and paying $0.25 per hour! Is this enough for you or I have to go on...?
archkre
And in the midtime go on discussing escencial issues as "Vray vs fR", "Brazil vs MentalRay","bokkeh effect and its incidence in paying my credit card bills","SSS and caustics for keeping us out of the economic crisis US is going thru"... Sawyer
Seems like a set up but I will bite: If you have 4 jobs and only have time to do 4 only take 4 jobs or work more. If you keep getting more work raise your prices. Hiring people is a huge deal and I imagine it would be a last resort. Ultimatly I cannot tell if you point is to try & point out how foolish we are for doing the work we are doing or feeling sorry for yourself that you aren't making more money. ingo
I know myself that its hard hanging around like you with no job, but with your disqualifying comments thats no wonder that you have no job or no satisfying job. And of course we know that many architects are outsourcing their work to India, i'm part of that business and earn some additional money with this. I understood that its hard to tell those architects that this outsourcing is more expensive than doing that stuff inhouse, they don't believe you. So i earn my money as a subcontractor inbetween, doing QC and some translations; instead of hanging around like you and tell everyone how cruel the world is to DannyK. archkre
I know myself that its hard hanging around like you with no job Who told you that!Of course I do not make a living with CG Viz/animations. I have a more entrepreneurial approach to Architecture ,which allows me to take Cg Viz just as an unhealty hobby. My comments are observations of the surrounding reality , no more ,no less, trying to open minds to the actual world.
Hazdaz
See, I have no problem with ARCHKRE's posts. I think he purposefully likes being the "devil's advocate" and bringing up sometimes unpleasant or "controversial" issues to get a reply. Nothing wrong with that at all. It actually can open up some discusion that might not have been brought up if everyone thought that life was all 'peaches and cream'.

Archkre, Are You a Racialist? Your comments my not classify you as such but your rhetoric begs me to ask an honest question. Answer honestly in return. I would like to know as to what motivates you as I am soon to begin my education in architecture and your insight may be helpful to me.
