Are you the VRay genius?!

You could try a default grey vraymtl in the global switches override slot and re-render in order to isolate the problem to or from materials. It could be any number of things, and frankly, it is a shot in the dark to give an answer without any further insight to the situation.

From appearances it could likely be a rouge raytrace material (as kippu mentioned), or my shot in the dark, a camera correction mod on a standard camera.

It could also be caustics, low subdivs on vraylights, or some faulty render settings. Despite using the same render settings for both images, some of the objects appear smaller in one frame compared to the next, therefore they will recieve less light samples due to VRay's calculation of light per the view and resolution settings, and thus more approximation and blending takes place to clean the solution as best it can per the user settings.

Great suggestions and input. Much appreciated.

No overlapping surfaces. I do have a camera correction mod on the Cameras. Also, I did adjust the output of the floor material to get more contrast. Caustics are turned off.

I will try the override material and other suggestions and let you know what happens.

Thanks again!

Found out what it was. This may be helpful to a lot of people.

I imported this model from Sketchup, and replaced most of the materials with VRay materials. There were a few objects that still had the original Sketchup mats applied. I went and replaced the first few objects materials with VRay materials and VOILA!

This is with the ashtrays next to the benches in the foreground updated with VRay mats. The ones in back still have their Sketchup mats, therefore emiting some kind of light or white mats. Who knew?!

Yeah we've had this problem before as well. It's sometimes when there's pure white or red etc in the diffuse channel, usually white (255, 255, 255). The light cache especially seems to go mental and vomits OTT GI everywhere. This is especially the case on standard materials, and takes longer to render.

To be on the safe side I always blanket apply a mid grey vray material to begin with to everything, just to be on the safe side, as you're probably going to reapply materials to everything anyway.
