Esmoo
Hi guys I'm on my Part 1 Placement in Brazil, and currently working on a research project about Building Information Modelling (BIM). Focusing on the main softwares of Revit, ArchiCAD and Bentley. I need to analyse each software in terms of its; Advantages Disadvantages Ease of Use Affordability Market Use Databank capabilities I thought it'd be best to ask exisitng users of these programs in various forums, so please give me your opinions! AndyC
That's a big list and a very long discussion. Might want to break it down a little . . .
epictor.com
hi, i did my diploma about this theme. you got alot to research.. take a look at ifc, its the underlying data structure for data exchange (and hence the base of all bim implementations). but to sum it up: all big vendors are moving into bim direction (which is a good thing), but noone is there, yet. nemetschek (produces allplan, archicad and vectorworks) got allplan quite far. archicad is quite usable as well. autodesk revit is a very interesting product, but much more limited so far. i didn't analyse bently by myself, but there some data by avaible by the ifc foundation. nevertheless - you won't find any bim product thats really and completly production ready (bim wise). AndyC
Just a thought . . . Might want to do some background research on the petro-chem industries. They have been doing BIM for over 20 years and have it down to several reality centers doing full VR walkthroughs and interactive BIM. There are many out there, I remember a few guys on a program called Pheonix a while back, mostly schemtaics tied to information.
