AaronSTL
I'm just not happy with how this image is turning out. I'm using MR with mr sun and sky as my light source. The scene renders out really dark and dull so I did some brightness and contrast in PS but it's still pretty flat. I could use some suggestions. Dave Oliver
my quick fixes to making a scene more dynamic - put the camera at about a 45 degree angle to your rectangular shapes put the sun lower on the horizon such that the angle of reflection will shine off those angled planes into your camera (this sets up some specularity to show off the bump/displacement maps in your textures) have your enviornment light and direct light almost opposite color values - orange and blue, yellow and purple put some kind of border (like a wall) all the way around your scene to block off the horizontal light coming from the environment, and boost the reflections. that way your horizontal planes will reflect more of the sky but the vertical ones wont watch chris nichols exterior scene tutorials use hdri lighting and enviornment if you can increase diffuse reflections ... hey im from chesterfield
AaronSTL
Thanks for the ideas, Dave. I'll try them out. Hey I work in Chesterfield. Small world!
erickdt
I think the majority of your problem is your camera angle. Try to bring your camera down to a more human eye level as opposed to floating ~20' in the air. Then play with the composition of the shot.
