IC
3DWorld magazine has just given FPrime 9/10 and said the only reason it wasn't 10/10 was so they had somewhere to go with version 2.0. No mention of dual processors in the review but they did say that on one scene it took longer to reach the same results as the native render engine. Allen Bussell
David, I would recommend budgeting for FPrime even prior to the program being updated to multithread. As is, FPrime has saved me countless hours in camera and lighting setup alone - that and having useable Monte Carlo GI. The ability to send my client very quick test renders - for review of textures, colors etc. Caveat - 1. I have not used it for an animation yet - so I don't know how it'll do on that. and 2. I had some clip map issues with the 1.01 version that I haven't checked out with the updated version yet. Time = $
ingemar
Clip maps in ver 1.01 had the problem that Ray recursion had to be set quite high (like, 16). Then it worked great. In 1.02 this is fixed though.
