bjhiggi
Good day, This is a project I've been working on for my graduate architecture studio. The purpose of the project is to design an observatory and nature center in the South Carolina Botanical Gardens. This is just a little render I did in 3ds max using mental ray. I've done post editing in photoshop, and yes, I know the colors are starting to burn out, but I kinda like it. Enjoy all!
SandmanNinja
Welcome to the forums, Ben. It's organic in shape, so it have a non-mechanical feel to it. How would it look on the inside? Stairs? rooms?
bjhiggi
Well I'm trying to work on that part right now, the entire project is due Tuesday. Here's another artistic rendering of the front facade. What it basically entails is that the lower area is reserved for the nature study which will have spaces for exhibits and lectures, while the top of the structure will be for the amateur and professional observatory. I'm trying to work out a system so that some of the windows are mechanical in that they open so you can place your telescope and view the stars. My primary concern right now is trying to find a way to the top.
Horhe
Try and concentrate the elevetor shaft in an area, where the section does not change through all the floors, like Zaha Hadid Architects have done in the dancing towers: http://img159.imageshack.us/img159/6175/dancing6eo.jpg http://img522.imageshack.us/img522/5728/16368841329ep.jpg http://www.yankodesign.com/images/design_news/2007/04/19/dancing_towers.jpg http://farm1.static.flickr.com/1/185616967_c4bb01b09f.jpg As for the images, they are looking quite alright to show of the concept of your project. I would suggest you crop the first image a bit, cut down much of the empty space around. Edited October 4, 2009 by Horhe
bjhiggi
Here are some interior shots which I have been working on.
SandmanNinja
The interior is pretty, but seems like a lot of negative space. Lots of areas to move through but not many places to settle and congregate. My favourite image is the one with the telescope image - very arts and I just really like it.
