wes
I am fairly new to Lightwave and I have been trying to find books aimed towards architecture and architecture visualization, with no luck. Most of the books I have picked up are mainly for charcter animation. I am having a diffcult time with creating realistic lighting. Any ideas? quatermain
there aren't any specifically that i know of. I'm going through Boughen's lighting book, but it doesn't have any specific tips for interior work. popular books like Dan Ablan's Inside LW7, and Albee's new Essential LW have architectural modeling exercises, but nothing on interior scene lighting. The MIR studios interview sheds some light on their workflow; their strategy is to turn up the radiosity to 3-4 bounces. it doesn't look like they do it in passes - just straight up. they use skytracer a lot ingo has a great tutorial on radiosity and front projection mapping: http://www.im-graphics.de/p/te.html except for mir-studios, i really haven't seen that much interior work with LW radiosity. please post links if you have any. i'm currently working on some of my first interiors w/ radiosity. we could figure it out together. supaslims
Howdy, - 3D Lighting, History, Concepts & Techniques - Arnold Gallardo - Charles River Media, ISBN 1-58450-038-7 This is a book i picked up in the bargain bin of a local bookstore for $10, It was written for use with LW 5.6  But dont let that put you off. What it will do is give you a solid base for understanding how to achieve great effects without radiosity in LW (though it also refers to Truespace and 3DSM) There is a large section dedicated to architectural lighting, interior lighting, light aray setup and so on. I realy got alot out of this book because it was geared towards environmental lighting and forced me to learn about lighting in LW the hard way...which was a good thing, i think Hope you can still find it! It's also got a test drive of Reel Motion on the CD
Richie
Hello If everything goes well, we will release 2 DVDs for LW/LS for Architects very soon. The first DVD is about fast and detailed modelling in LW (architectural). The second one is for Lighting in LW and LS. No release date or prices available yet, but some parts of both DVDs are allready finished. Richie
