danb4026
I have been playing around with both and think that the Mudbox interface is quite a bit easier to learn. I want to delve deeper into one of the 2, but could use some advice as to which one to focus on. The purpose is solely to add to my tool chest for arch vis creation, not for gaming or the like. Any opinions?
SandmanNinja
I played with ZBrush 2 and didnt get into it. The interface for ZBrush 3 is completely different and seems to make more sense. Having said that, I intend to use MudBox, since it's from the same 'family' as 3ds... I've viewed (but not worked thru) some mudbox tutorials for mudbox, it seems more straightforward. Billabong
Mudbox is way easier to understand, but at the sametime, ZB has been some really cool features. It its just for archviz, I would say stick with MB,
danb4026
Thanks guys. Mudbox does seem more suited to my needs and simpler to use. I am going to search for some in depth tutorials and go thru them.
Billabong
You might want to check out http://www.Eat3D.com, we have a few dvds that uses MB and Zbrush, could help you get on your way. Check the old damaged pillar and The fountain. I think the fountian would be more up your alley -B
danb4026
I see that The Fountain uses both zbrush and mudbox. Is it using them for 2 different purposes, or to perform the same function but with different programs?
Billabong
They perform the same action in both apps, its to show people how to create the fountain no matter what sculpting app you use. -B
Cad64
I see that The Fountain uses both zbrush and mudbox. Is it using them for 2 different purposes, or to perform the same function but with different programs? It shows you how to use both programs to perform the same function. It's actually a really great training DVD and I really learned a lot from it and would highly recommend it. I won't go into detail about why I like ZBrush over Mudbox because the last time I voiced my opinion on this subject, on another forum, I got labeled as a fanboy. So I'll just say that I prefer ZBrush and leave it at that.

amer abidi
I also highly recommend the fountain Tutorial. Priceless. Furthermore, i also prefer Mudbox. Im not saying its better, its just that i find the interface more straightforward and easier for arch vis artists who dont really need to get into character design and development.
