RANT. Application Menu.

For the sake of my fellow co-workers who are especially polite with no knowledge of me possibly going postal about Autodesks 'genius' application menu . . .

For those not using 2010, let me describe its upgrade (chuckles follow).

We used to have a file menu. Well, it worked, wasn't flashy, didn't try to be. I've not ever heard of a file menu trying to do anything special, its the kind of menu you could leave with your girlfriend for the weekend and be at peace. Maybe it was boring, but it worked. Remember if aint broke . . .

Well Autodesk didnt quite get that line, they decided that a trusted menu system that billions of people understand needs an added level of confusion, I mean 'functionality'. Now we have a button that when clicked, has a delay just long enough for you to know its not doing anything. So you go back and click once again and hey presto, your application shuts down, NICE! So when you do figure out this little trick, you find all kinds of options, but alas most of them are not easy to click because this part of the UI is so fast you cant keep up. Its a disaster!

Come on Autodesk, this is just stupid. We are desperate for new tools, DONT mess with a UI that doesnt need to be fixed.

Ok, rant over. Going back to knitting.
