milfora
Hi, I have recently installed 3ds Max 2010 Design and have noticed that when I place a photometric light in the scene that I do not have a mr Light Shader rollout (see attached image) The help guide says 'Note: This rollout appears only if you have enabled the mental ray extensions by using the mental ray Preferences panel.' which I have always had turned on. Any ideas how to restore it? Does anybody else have this problem? Is there something I am missing? Thanks in advance AM Edited October 9, 2009 by milfora forgot image
Crazy Homeless Guy
Autodesk chose to hide the light shader when you are using the design viz presets, but the good news is that you can unhide it. Got to the directory below, or the corresponding directory to the interface preset that you are using. 3ds Max 2009\Defaults\DesignVIZ.mentalray The open the "CurrentDefaults.ini" in a text editor, and locate the ; Mental ray Light Shader CustAttribute [1160 39ac0bc8 5a834fad] ; if showAllRollouts is 0 (false) then the mental ray light shader rollout is invisible ; anywhere it is used. showAllRollouts=0 Change the "showAllRollouts=0" to "showAllRollouts=1" I think that takes care of it. milfora
Thanks very much Travis, I just changed my UI to Max.mentalray and it works perfectly. AM
