erickdt
Is there any way to use VRay Physical cameras in the MAX panorama exporter? As far as I can tell, you can only use standard cameras which don't provide as much finite control over exposure etc. So I'm wondering if there is a script or something along those lines with which I could use VRay physical cams. I am aware that there is a work around for this issue where you use a spherical lens to render out your VRay cam view and then use that sperical view as an eviroment map in an otherwise emty scene with a single camera in it. I find that this can cause somewhat strange results though. Please let me know if there is any way to do this right from within the panorama exporter. Thanks in advance! E sp3 allows you to use Vray's camera. For sp2, I advise you to set up your scene with camera exposure turned off, so you can switch from Vray's cam for stills, anim, etc, and Max cam for qtvr. Any small diff in exp can be fixed with Pshop exposure, or levels. Exposure is esp good when you render out 16-bit tif or exr.

erickdt
I'm already running VRay SP3 and the VRay cameras don't appear in the panorama exporter. I am on MAX 2009 SP1 though. Maybe that's my issue?
AndyC
I came across the same problem a while ago. We ended up making a camera rig, (5 cameras at 90 degrees), setting up a batch render and stitching the image. We automated the stitching too with another script that stitched images on demand. (It was to be used on a website that could be updated at any point). The problem with the exposure is that when facing into the sun the exposure will work, but when looking the other way it will be super dark with the same exposure. But you have to keep exposure the same for the stitching to work. if I did it again I would render them all RAW (exr) and run an auto exposure script in post on the assembled shot, then knock the image down to 8 bit for use. Just an idea.
