can you leave a macbook pro to render overnight?

Recommended Posts

will it get too hot? is it ok to leave on rendering for many hours?

I'm wondering if i will have to keep my quadcore pc (which i'dlike to sell)

also, bootcamp / parallels? if you have both will they be using the same windows files installed or would each method need it's own windows?

just thinking parallels might do for autocad, but bootcamp for rendering/max only.

i'm about to get one to run bootcamp xp64 for Max vray and autocad.

i currently have a quad core desktop, but i'm not a full time 3Der so a powerfull laptop will do me for another year (until I land a big animation job and buy another desktop)

any advise appreciated

Macbooks running windows - getting too hot has shown up on some forums. I use my scale ruler as a stand to keep the base exposed to air and it never has exceeded 80C, but usually for a minute then down to 78C. My understanding is this is within acceptable ranges.

I am running bootcamp, Win7 RC with Max 2009 design & Mental ray and have had it render via batch a series of camera views with no issues.
