DWG to PDF: lines too light

I have a colleague who is trying to plot their drawing to a PDF. Under page setup manager they have the plot style set to grayscale but when they plot it to a PDF, all of the lines appear very light--light to the point that when you print the PDF it doesn't show up. We have found a workaround by changing all the layers to black and then plotting to a PDF and printing (which works). However, isn't there a better way to go about this. Why are the lines not appearing as black and just light shades of gray. Any help would be much appreciated.

It might be a lineweight settings issue.

If you plot to PDF you can get a PDF that shows on screen just lovely no matter what the paper size. If you plot your PDF to Arch D with correct D lineweights then ask Acrobat to display that onscreen with nice lines and huge paper scaled to screen... the line weights shrink to might slender. Might even go gray on you.

Switch to smaller paper and the line weight doesn't have to be scaled down as much to fit on screen and will show up fatter :. darker.

Watch out for the "scale lineweights" checkbox on the plot dialog.
