eye-kon
Hi guys, I need to model a cliff/rock similar to the attached images and I obviously need it to be quite detailed and realistic; The cliff will be set around a pool, cabins, bar etc. I thought maybe some procedural terrain modelling in Vue or Bryce but will it give me enough control over the height, the countour, the detailing of the rocks?I need it to be quite precise (I can probably have an error of half a meter or a meter max.) And I will need to use it in Max and render with Vray. Any thoughts? What route should I take? Any links to tutorials etc? Thanks in advance! Marc Ps: Just to be more precise, my question is limited to the moutain/rock modelling, and not the foliage, materials etc.
beestee
Perhaps Terragen would be a good option?
LuckyST
that's hard. texturing will be the important part of it.
shaneis
If you can get some good photographs of the cliff face in question, a bit of quick Photoshop work will give you a displacement map that you can use to give a great (and reasonably accurate) approximation. Use the same image (colour version) for your texture map and you're good-to-go.
itarc
I often use Zbrush modeling with a rock map-brush .
