Brian Cassil
What did Autodesk do to the license transfer utility in 2010! I have to "login" to it to use it now. I try to set up an "account" but it says that my serial numbers are already assigned to another account. I try to login using my subscription login but that doesn't work either. Why was it necessary to change this, and what can I do to make this work?
bev.lynn
Brian, from what I understand, with 2010 products on subscription, you have to set this up in the Subscription Contract Administration area. Once you log in, go to Contract Administration, then Request Home Use and follow the instructions there. In essence, you have to accept the Ancillary Service Agreement (ASA). I hope this helps. So that answers my second questions (thanks, I'll look into that right away) but not my first. That being, why did Autodesk feel the need to make this more complicated? Tommy L
. That being, why did Autodesk feel the need to make this more complicated? hahahaha, do you really have to ask?
Brian Cassil
hahahaha, do you really have to ask? Of course not, I would just ever love to hear them admit why they pull these shenanigans.
BrianKitts
Interesting, I hadn't noticed that they had changed from the Portable License Utility (PLU) funny story.... The PLU had corrupted my license one time and left me with both my desktop and the laptop that I port the license to when traveling....unlicensed. So I called support and told the guy what happened, and he said that (his exact words) the PLU is total garbage and not to use it ever! He then proceeded to tell me how to go into the backend of the PLU and manually undo everything that had been done which left the license activated on both machines simultaneously and apologized for having to use such a failed product. Good to know they tried to fix it, sorry to hear that in true Automess fashion the fix didn't hit the mark on the first shot. manta
They do these things in a futile attempt to stop pirating, which protects them for about 5 minutes give or take...and leaves all the licensed customers to pay the toll...
Nic H
its rubbish, i do not want to have to get on teh phone when these issues arise every 6 months. best thing to do imo is to use the legit installs but with cracked licenses, they never bugger up. rock solid. i dont see how this is illegal as you still own the software, just using a more reliable license system.
