We had a big one in melbourne a while back but I was too young to remember it. Those sattelite pics are just awesome. They had to wash the track at Bathurst 2-3 weeks after! Justin Hunt
I couldnt see my backyard fence from the house, probably about 50m away. Very eerie red tinge to everything. Ran around the house shutting all the windows because that red dust sticks to everything jhv

I have already forgotten how big home properties are in the south. Here in the north we live like sardines. So how long does one of these dust storms stay for

Justin Hunt
I live on a 5 archers property. Not too far out of the city 30km or so. The dust storm lasted a day but the dust hung around for a could of days after. About a week later there was a smaller one and again a week after that. This is all due to the drought, there is alot of loose dirt around so when the wind picks up, so does the dust. Funny thing was we have major water restrictions on. After the first storm the government eased them up so people could wash up. Car wash places did a roaring trade. Then the next storm came:p jhv
