k-ram
I just recently imported a huge model from a client (modeled in ArchiCAD in millimeters) using 3DS-import (to 3DS Max 2009 with the same unit setup). Since I normally prefer to do all my modeling from scratch in MAX, I normally don't run into problems like this: The geometry is perfectly ok scale wise, but when I start applying modifiers to the objects, unwanted things happen. A basic UVW-modifier using real world scale or a fillet/chamfer or similar operations seem to use a very different unit scale. I do have applied the RESET XFORM utility to the entire model, but this doesn’t seem to make any difference. I would greatly appreciate if anyone can help me with this issue; working further with great accuracy with this model seems to be quite tricky. Thank you, cheers -Knut
brightlight
I have just had a similar problem. The problem was the object was part of a group. Solution for me was to explode the group then Reset Xform, then Collapse All, then apply new UVW map. Hope this helps
k-ram
Thanks, Jim! The objects have never been part of groups (just layers and selection sets), but it seems like adding the modifiers, applying the reset Xform, collapsing the stacks, and then adding the new modifiers seem to solve the problem:). A little bit cumbersome as it has to be applied on an individual basis, but it works...Thanks again, Knut
