plastic
what is lost there? i managed to import geometry from maya users into max, via dxf (polys) or iges (nurbs).
Diego Rosales
I've had the same problem before. After exporting everything into DXF, nothing comes up in MAX. IGES seems to work better. I've also heard about OBJ importers for max. /Diego
ferox
there are probably several and various recipes for this, depending on the export model contents. one precautionary approach ( iff geometry is an issue) is to export an .obj file from maya; view/check/analyse the exported file's geometry using okino's polytrans or 3d exploration; and continue with importing into max if all is well... dxf and 3ds file formats have known limitations? kid
get the .obj importer for Max at maxplugins.de then bring the .obj files into Max. There's sometimes flipped normals on open surfaces but closed objects should be fine. I've had success with quite complex models.
John Dollus
Um...download the Kaydara FBX translators free from their website. Animation translates as well minus deformations. Materials will not translate as there really is not a compatible structure between the two.
