Tim Nelson
I'm pretty new to AE, trying to learn some basic concepts. I know how to add adjustment layers, but what I'm trying to figure out is how to apply a mask to the adjustment layer so it will only affect those parts. I know I can easily draw a mask on top of it, but I have a series of rendered frames to serve as my alpha source for the mask. I know its as easy as a couple of clicks, but I haven't found those clicks yet.
mattclinch
place your rendered mask in the layer immediately above the adjustment layer, and select the adjustment layers masking mode to be 'luma matte', it will default to the mask layer above. Tim Nelson
Thanks - where do you find the adjustment layer's masking mode?
Dave Buchhofer
right click on the column header (say.. where it says Parent) and show the MODES column, this gives you all the PS blending modes, but it also allows you to select a different track to use as a Mask/Matte by alpha or by black/white (luma)
