jusparks
Hello all, I am obviously a new member, and a new user of vray. I've been using a plugin called podium for all my rendering needs, but I've recently hit a wall and I'm ready to move on to bigger and better things. I hope that I will be welcome here, and I hope my experience in cgi will encourage others. I'm a graduate of Texas Tech University with degrees in architecture and landscape architecture. I'm currently in the process of opening a design business, and look to provide a higher level of composite renderings to my clients via vray. I hope to reduce the time it takes for me to become a regular user of vray by taking advantage of the great assetts on this website. Thanks, Js
alias_marks
Hey Justin, great! welcome to the form & I hope you learn quite a bit. This forum is great, and is definitely the right place to help arch vis artists along the learning curve journey. take care, Michael
jusparks
Thanks Micheal! I checked out a few of your portfolio imagea, and I had a quick question. Do you use SketchUp to do a lot of your initial modeling? Again, thanks for the warm wlcome! Js
alias_marks
Hey Justin, many of them are modeled in sketchup, however I personally don't model in sketchup (unless I'm using the sketchup model from the designers) . That being said, I know there are a lot of artists that do model in sketchup to start with. If ya do a search I'm sure you'll find some discussions on the topic, basically it comes down to where your comfortable, and which tool you think you can use to get the work done as fast and as flexibly (*is that a word ) as possible. It's a bit dated, but I found the attached pdf helpful in explaining some of the best practices to go from SU to 3ds max, that you might find relevant if moving from sketchup to max often. jusparks
Okay, I was just wondering because I use sketchup to start almost all my modeling. I guess I just work faster with it because I've aquired so many ruby script shortcuts. I've been using vray for sketchup a little, and it's proved to be pretty good. Althogh, I'm having trouble finding good plant material and people. Antways, thanks for taking the time respond to my questions.
