YOHKOH
Hey hey hey Does anyone know of a script or plugin to control doors and windows more easily on a large scale? I have large facades with opening shutters and doors and would love to be able to - A : Randomly set open or closed values B : Have them all open and all closed C : Set them as instances of each other but also be able to open or close them individually. Something like the light listed could be usefull. Any help would be much appreciated Ta
JonRashid
If you use the AEC windows and doors. You can link their open/close variable to a slider using manipulators. Then you can open and shut banks of doors/windows on an animatable slider.
BrianKitts
You might want to check out the max help section on wiring parameters. Or you could also look into some of Louis Marcoux's tutorials to get some ideas.... http://area.autodesk.com/louis_tutorials/animation_and_rigging_techniques_for_architecture_visualization You could easily build a small rig and wire the parameters to it as a control object. This would allows you to open and close them with ease. (Assuming you have them setup with proper pivots and could wire the rotation value to your control rig) As for the random value, that would be a maxscript function. YOHKOH
Thanks guys Really I was hoping to be able to apply an edit poly mod to my aec door and have that rattle through to all instances but then open and close them individually. Guess I'll try rigging my own on top of the edit poly
SandmanNinja
It's very easy using AEC doors, and I'd have to imagine that a DO..LOOP can be scripted to walk through all AEC doors and randomly set the OPEN percentage.
