acjwalker
Just got tweeted about V-Ray SP4 being released. This is what is included in it: - Improved multithreading on multi-core machines; - Ability to specify gizmo falloff for VRayEnvironmentFog; - Ability to use arbitrary meshes as gizmos for VRayEnvironmentFog; - Option to exclude the background from VRayEnvironmentFog; - Added CIE sky models to the VRaySun and VRaySky; - It is now possible to submit DR servers list for DR through backburner; - Added option to not use area speculars in the VRayIES light; - Added Kelvin temperature settings for the color of VRayLights; - VFB history is now turned off when 3ds Max is in slave mode; - Output .vrimg and split channel paths are listed in the Asset Tracker; - GI cache files (irradiance maps, light cache etc) are listed in the Asset Tracker. I personally am looking forward to the CIE Sky:)

acjwalker
Whats a "CIE sky model"? I believe it is a way if determining how cloud the sky is, from no cloud to complete cloud. What is the dm to backburner goingto do?

Koper
I'm happy for the new updates to vray RT, especially the ability to now get access to the RT frame buffer through max scripting. It's going to be beeeautiful

Koper
An interesting post. May I ask what you have in mind? hehehe Well, for one, I'd like to do a log script that saves the vray rt frame along with the current vray and max settings (maybe just an rps) then as I keep playing and changing settings I can keep track of what i did and easily revert to a previous setup. Are the updates in Vray that good, sorry don't mean sound stupid but are they? How will you guys use them day to day? phil RT has a few updates and is a service pack. I probably won't be using any of the new features apart from the - "Improved multithreading on multi-core machines" feature I guess you can look at it like this. You can wait a year and get all the updates at once for an upgrade fee much like all other software or get the updates as they're completed. We get the updates sooner. Not much more to say really.
