sdds
I'm trying to use 3d grass in animations. read tutorials posted by Peter Guthrie and the recent one posted here. Te problems I'm having with the scatter method is the amount of time it takes to load the geometry making it impractical for our system. I've had better luck painting proxies with advanced painter but its not practical for large areas.. recently been playing with particles for scattering the proxies but the render crashes at the 10000 instance mark. We are running 6 quad, 4gig machines, maybe this is just not enough power for doing this. Having played with vray scatter it seems to solve a lot of these problems. But what are the other options? BrianKitts
How close is the grass getting viewed in the animation? Unless you're down close, I would probably keep it simple with a blend map and displacement, and if you're not close to the grass, get a good map and don't even bother with the displacement, it's not worth the hit on your frame times if you aren't going to see the detail. tayrona
I have tested autograss on still images and is very easy as you said. Do you have or know about an example of animations done using this app?
