mattclinch
Maxtreme performance drivers for Quadro cards if you're are using Max 2009or earlier. (http://www.nvidia.com/object/maxtreme_archive.html) If not, I think that between the two, the performance difference is often negligable, but openGL i don't believe supports viewport hardware shading, so if it were me, i'd always stick with DirectX. kid84
i will stick with direct x. if im not mistaken openGL is meant for doing 3D game modeling or something? correct me if im wrong.
erickdt
I too strongly prefer DirectX. It supports viewport shading and transparency in the viewport, which is very handy. One thing to note about DirectX though is that no VPN program that I've used supports DirectX. So you have to revert to OpenGL if you want to VPN into your office computer from home and do anything within MAX's viewports... E
