clarkeme
Hi again Hopefully this is a simple one. I have created a model, and then created a new Material library based on the materials I have used in this model. However some materials now come up as just grey circles in the browser. They seem to have lost there maps ( or map locations). Does the fact that my material browser now shows red circles, mean these are in error? Many thanks again
SandmanNinja
I've corrupted my A&D Material Library in the past - it must be very sensitive. I've since switched (recently) to creating my own Material Libraries and have used a script on here to browse to a folder and it loads the MatLibs for you. Makes it easier. Here's my fix for the missing slots: A&D Materials Disappear: Close Max Find this file: mrArch_DesignTemplates.mat rename it to something else (mrArch_DesignTemplates-BAD.mat) Find a GOOD COPY of this somewhere (I copied mine from the 32-bit version of 3DS Max) Copy in the same folder as where the original was found and renamed re-start max If that fixes it, right click on the file and make it READ ONLY. That way, it cannot get overwritten any more.
pixelperfectg
In case you don't have a backup copy of the file, I put on here: http://forums.cgsociety.org/showpost.php?p=2921693&postcount=2 in tip #
SandmanNinja
Thanks Jeff - you are Legendary! I'm thinking of starting to use this plug-in/script: http://matmanager.110mb.com/Index.html Ten Europe-Dollars - a pretty great bargin for what it does. No more corrupt A&D MatLibs and the things are stored logically.
Crazy Homeless Guy
As both a side note, and a general working note, I always duplicate my Max directory as soon as a new copy is installed. I am bound to mess something up at some point, and it is a good way to have a original of any file you may corrupt.
