bluediablito
hello to all. i am currently in the middle of finishing a project and i have ran into some problems. my first problem and i know no one can help me is. My school vray license is down until next week. My other problem is that i have no knowledge of mental ray and i have setup a scene with mental ray materials and a daylight system with standard light as interior light. can any one please tell me why is it that when ever i put a daylight system (Sun-mr sun......skylight-mr sky) all my standard light are deactivated and there is no sign of the lights.? amer abidi
Your Exposure settings are probably too high for the camera to detect your standard light's low intensity. Either Crank up the multipliers really high, or switch to photometric lights. I suggest the switch. (ofcourse another approach is to lower your exposure settings... but then you'd have to lower your daylight system's intensity, needless to say.) 1d2d3d4d
I'd just around with scanline renderer and direct light and skylight and any others you might want...rather than trying to get into mental ray for a deadline... the light tracer in advanced lighting is pretty good and can give some nice bounces but it takes a while....' nelpiper
Mental ray can be frustrating at first but it's very powerful once you understand how to use it. Try the following - delete your daylight system - trash all your standard lights and replace them for photometric lights - create a new daylight system. When you do that, MR is going to ask you if you want a MR sky in the environment slot and if you want to use the MR photometric exposure control. Say yes to both questions. Go to the ENVIRONMENT AND EFFECTS dialogue and in the MR photographic exposure control preset choose "outdoor daylight, clear sky" This should give you a start. Good luck. pixelperfectg
Tip: Make sure you scene is properly scaled. If it's not realistically scaled then photometric lights & indirect illumination won't work as expected.
