hi, i can`t get rid of the artefacts in the pillar in the image below.

i made it with lathe, tried to check and uncheck all checkboxes there, but the artefacts stay.

tried auto smooth on the pillar, no sucess.

the material is a simple vraymaterial without refl.

very thankfull for suggestions

thanks for your replies,

also thought of coplanar faces first time i saw the artefacts, but there is no other geometry.

i also tried very hig settings with no result. i think it`s because of the geometry, must be something with the lathe mod.

you tried high settings where? setting the irradiance map preset to "high"

isn't going to solve this problem. This really looks like a lack of samples in your irradiance map.

Try leaving the IRR preset set to low, but up your hemispherical subdivisions to somewhere around 30-50. Typically for exteriors, I find you can get away with a low preset and 30 subs, but sometimes requires going upwards towards 50 or so when you are getting a GI breakdown in your shadows.

It seems odd to me that the blotching seems only to be on the pillar, which suggests a geometry problem rather than irradiance - but I could be wrong. Does your lathe have the Centre button activated? If so the geometry can sweep on top of itself. Try shifting the lathe axis slightly and see if it changes things.
