RevitGary "you can use a generic 3d shrub or tree as the scatter distro object and then remove it afterwards"

Q: What the heck do you mean by this?

I am back to trying to make seagrapes."

Brian Smith A: "I use 3 images of seagrapes scatter about a single polygon with 1 or more faces...depending on how accurate i need the shadows. you can use a generic 3d shrub or tree as the scatter distro object and then remove it afterwards.

i'd send you the images if i had them with me but im on the road...took them myself a few years ago and they work great."

RevitGary Q: "I just got the onyx tree bundle. I know about making custom leaves and applying them to leaf plates.

I cant find the appropriate tree to start with to give me leaves that grow in the same direction as a seagrape leaf.

I assume you have delt with seagrapes being in florida. Can you tell me which onyx tree type will give me the best leaf position and trunk type to mimic a seagrape?"

it simply means, take any 3D shrub that you think mimics the size/shape of a seagrapes tree/shrub and scatter a polygon using the chosen shrub as the distribution object. the new scattered object will have the same size and shape but will have the new leaf image that you want to use.

My first atemps at seagrapes. I dont like the "cross leaves" in the big one and I dont like the way the leaves are laying flat in the small one.

The small one I started with "Asiminia triloba"

The large one I started with "Erithrina indica"

Anyone have ideas on which onyx tree to start with?
