Recommendation: Moab / Legion Paper

I don't usually do endorsements but these guys impressed me so much this week I thought I should say something.

I'm working on a new portfolio and I bought a Moab Chinle 12x12 kit from Calumet. This is a system with a black leather binder that goes in a black box, sheets of 12x12 paper in various types (I bought the Kayenta matte from Calumet but the Moab web site also has some other matte papers and gloss and satin options) and the whole thing is held together by screw posts.

The kit I bought was missing the screw posts. I called Moab's customer service line and immediately got a rep (who even seemed to be in the US), explained my problem and she apologized for the inconvenience and took down my address. I told her I needed the portfolio for a meeting on Monday so she sent me three times the number of pieces I actually needed, by USPS Express at a rather high cost, and two days later I have my finished book.

The system is great and the paper is fantastic - easily as good as anything from Epson. The only glitch in the process is that OSX 10.6 has a bug that keeps me from printing with ICC profiles in Indesign so I had to boot Windows to print, but another one of Moab's reps warned me on that so I didn't lose much time.
