parameter formulas

I know this has been requested to the developers, I hope to see something like it in future versions!

What I have done as a workaround is creating reference planes, dimensioning them with a by-instance parameter, using it in formulas.

Once the family is placed, the reference planes will have handles that manipulate the value of the parameter. I'm not sure if you can lock the planes to geometry, though.

I hope this helps.

Cheers,

William.

Hi all,

I'm starting with complex objects in Revit 2010, great!

How I can get a parameter from the host, for example:

I need the wall thickness in a formula to calculate a parameter in a window family.

Thank you in advance

Davide

You don't need a formula. You just lock the geometry in the window family to the wall's surfaces. Try http://www.augi.com for all the world's Revit experts....
