danb4026
Other then when using DOF, is there a preferred method of brightening or darkening a scene? It seems to me that lowering or raising either shutter speed or f-number have the same effect as far as rendering goes. Is there any difference in effect? Stephen Thomas
Nope, you're correct that aperture shutter speed and ISO all do the same thing as far as exposure goes. The differences are the effect on depth of field (aperture) and motion blur (shutter speed). Some people may prefer to stick with real world values but as far as vray is concerned it really doesn't matter.
danb4026
Thanks Stephen, that's what I thought. My understanding is that, if you are not concerned with DOF or Motion Blur, you can make ISO and shutter speed the same number and then just adjust f-stop for exposure. Yes, that kind of comes from the old 'sunny 16' rule of thumb where you set your shutter speed to the film ISO/ASA rating then use f16 for a sunny day, f8 for cloudy, f5.6 for shade and so on.
