DanGrover
Hi guys, I have a wee problem. I've been given a model by a client, not all of which will be rebuilt. The main problem is that the scene is tiny - the whole building is barely 10cm across, and we're rendering interiors. Now, I know that using the correct scale is important if you're intending on getting realistic lighting. In this instance, if I just scale the entire scene, will any problem emerge later in the process when I come to light it? I'll be rendering with MR. Basically, will MR look at the non-scaled size values, or will it take the scaling into account when it does the rendering? Thanks guys! mattclinch
10cm is a relative value depending on how max has been told to interpret your system units and AFAIK this is what mental ray uses to work out lighting solutions. rather than rescale all the objects, it may be simpler to change the system unit setup - what is it currently? 1 unit = ? Aah wunderbar, got it! Yup - I measured the distance of a known-sized object, used the ratio to work out what 1 unit should be in meters and set that in the box. Lovely! Thanks very much, Matt.
