ruskie77
Hi everybody! I've got a nice rig with 8 cores, hyperthreaded to 16. what I would really like to know is if anybody knows how to restrict vray to only use, say, 8 cores, so that the machine can render in the background and still have enough free threads to get on with other things. of course you can tick the "low priority threads" in the vray rollouts, but this doesnt quite free up enough, certainly when doing vray fog calcs and heavy glossy refractions.. any ideas or alternative suggestions would be very welcome!! thanks in advance! Stephen Thomas
Open up windows task manager then go to the 3dsmax.exe process, right click and choose 'set affinity' and that will allow you to deselect however many cores you choose.
