alless
Hi , I Have this Problem Specially with Metals Like Steel and Aluminom . They don't Shine (Glossiness) Even when there are Vray Sun and Some Vray Lights (interior Scene) Steels Look like Solid Grey Object , I used "vray-materials.de" steels and they all won't Shine like a real Steel but what Confuses Me is that Steels that assigned to Spherical Objects (Curvature) Shine So much better but Steels Of Qubic Objects like Handles look Awful , Currently I can't Show you my Renders but can anyone tell me what should i do to make Steels and Other Shiny Materials Look Realistic ... ?! zhopudey
A quick cheat is to add a omni just for speculars, and include only the metal objects.
LKlemenc
I think you have problem with the edges of hard surface objects ("qubic objects" ). You should chamfer them, metals will look much better then.
Stephen Thomas
With any reflective material the scene that it is reflecting plays a big part too.

It's a fairly common thing to get preseted mats that work only under some specific conditions (like only on round object, for example).
aristocratic3d
I will suggest ali to add an HDRI in the environment from vray material option. That should work.
alless
Thanx For Advices My Friends , Ok here I Show You What I've got : I rendered a Part of Partition with it's Glass Door With High Quality Vray Settings ... But As You see Metals are So Flat and Solid ... Partition have Aluminum Material and Door handle is Steel , But as You see Curvy Handle Looks Ok besides it's Plate (Cube ) Looks Awful , Scene has Vray Sun and I also put a Vray Light In front of Partition and Just Affected Specular as one Suggested ... but it haven't Changed anything , Also Scene has Lot of objects that means it has things to Reflect .... John Dollus
metal needs something to reflect. Your scene is pretty monochromatic so you are getting bland reflections.
remKa
Render a specular pass (add render elements), then in ps, put this pass above your main render, and use Linear dodge. Clone the specular pass, and add some glaussian blur.
braddewald
I agree that the reflections in the metal probably do not look realistic because they have nothing to reflect. Use the vray reflection override slot and place in a hdri map that will be reflected in the materials.

Nic H
you can always chuck in invisible to camera big white / yellow / red / blue self illuminated blocks into your scene to reflect on things.
braddewald
Well. I understand your skepticism. From the talk of a vray sun and the image that was posted I did not realize that this was an interior scene so an hdri override for reflections may not work. However, the problem is usually that people do not prop their scene behind the camera and instead leave a white wall which makes reflections look like solid colors. You could try eliminating that wall and that would let the override work as the environment would be allowed through. Also, you could try and put a regular old bitmap in the diffuse slot for the material for that behind-the-camera wall. There are a lot of possibilities.
