Simon Moir
3ds Max London User Group Meeting Next Wednesday 2nd December From 7pm Upstairs at The Black Horse Pub in Central London 6 Rathbone Place, London W1T 1HL The last of 2009! I'm glad everyone enjoys the evenings (Larry organised the first meeting in July 2007), this year's speakers have been great I hope you'll agree. If we could improve one thing it would be good for more people to bring along and share their projects; This month you'll have to step up, as one of the speakers had to postpone due to work commitments. A couple of people told me last month they would be bringing their work along so make sure you do too! Five or ten minutes would be great, and I'd appreciate a heads up if possible. You may remember the team from ArtVPS previewed their new renderer for Max in February. Shaderlight renders intelligent pixels that understand where they fit in a 3D image - and what to do if something changes. When changes are made to materials, environments, lights or textures, the information embedded in each pixel can be used to update the image without the need to re-render. It launches on Monday, and the team are coming down from Cambridge to show us their finished product. Looks great; you could check out the youtube videos on their site or better yet watch the demo on the evening! If you attended the huge 3December event last year, you will remember an Autodesk Vice President whooping and cheering to a largely stony-faced audience. They're not doing that this year, but they have sent me some software to give away as part of the celebrations, kindly overlooking the date discrepancy. C'mon! Yeah! Remember, there won't be a meeting in January, so it's your last chance to geek out with a drink before February 3rd 2010. Hope you can make it, regards, Simon.
