Alex Ryan Rubio
My question is this: I have a scanned black and white map of a city, is there a way for me to convert the image into a usable autocad file? where the lines would be converted to acad's line or polyline? what software would best achieve this? xgarcia
open in Illustrator and export as dwg?? My first guess. What format is your raster file?
Hector
The first one that comes to my mind is Streamline from Adobe. Which allows the "vectorization" of raster images. raster=bitmap It can be done also in Illustrator or Frehand, VectorWorks does it as well, there should be others (I think that Illustrator and Freehand export in dxf format, Vector Works does). Accuracy may be problem tough, I'm not sure. A digitalizing tablet can be used to create a precise digital version from a drawing if you have the original but requires certain level of training. You can also trace the raster image in your CAD software. I know that some scanners for large drawings come with the software to do it, ask at a service bureau Hope that helps. Jeff Mottle
There are tons of different softwares that do this. Here is a list of many of them: http://www.tenlinks.com/CAD/PRODUCTS/r2v.htm These are Raster to Vector, but most vector app can convert to a DWG and ACAD can import some vector formats
