Dave Buckley
I've been severely bored today at work so decided to play around with some old models i had and practice my cloth simulations (mainly to prove to my boss that my computer can't handle intense sims in the hope of getting an upgrade) i've been looking for an excuse to go through fran's tutorials anyway. however, as you can see, duvet tut worked a treat, folded blanket tut worked a treat, curtain tut has worked apart from one little section. the tutorial mentions using sticky surf to attached grouped vertices in the cloth object to the curtain rail. now for the life of me i can't get sticky surf to let me select the curtain pole. this is where i'm at so far, the curtain is working fine, but i want to be able to gather it any ideas guys and girls (in particular fran )
nelpiper
I really never worked with Sticky surf but if all what you want is to have the top of your curtains fixed to the rails, on the cloth modifier, select group sub-object, select the vertices you want, then select Make group, then select preserve. That means that vertices you selected will not be affected by the simulation. Hope it helps. Good luck.
Dave Buckley
its ok i sorted it, apparently i needed more segments in my curtain pole cylinder for it to work. i was aware of the preserve but i wanted to be able to oppen and close the curtains so that they gather more and preserve wouldn't have allowed me to do that but thanks for the suggestion
