Jason Matthews
Hey all! I've got an aerial image that I am about to begin that contains a lot of foliage but also a lot of open grass areas. Can any of you share your ideas for the larger grass areas? I'm using Vray but I doubt the displacement will be a good solution. Also can anyone share some tricks for the pass trees? Typically, I bring in the Xfrog trees and convert to vrmesh. Then spread like wild fire. Thanks,
Chad Warner
I saw on here a few months back where someone had taken an aerial photo and doctored it to match the specific site they were working on. It worked really well.
TheAllusionisst
You could do blend materials and offsets to help eliminate tiling, or you can do one large (high resolution) texture and even paint into it paths, etc. as needed. Here is an example, not mown lawns, but an example none the less:
Jason Matthews
Thanks I actually found a grass material that works as long as is is set to the correct size. Any thoughts on lots and lots of trees?
aaronrumple
Thanks I actually found a grass material that works as long as is is set to the correct size. DT18
I found a tutorial in other forum about making grass with Vray Proxy, that had excellent results, if you don't find I can send the link to you. I don't remember if I can post links here. Good luck!
GARIS_TEPI_DESIGN
i think using v ray proxy and scatter would make it easy
glennn
Vray scatter works well. Also take a look at Autograss. Has anyone seen a similar solution for doing lumpy gravel? I need to make some gravel same as AutoGrass
Claudio Branch
[quote=glennn;305732 Has anyone seen a similar solution for doing lumpy gravel? Do you mean something similiar to riprap? I have used Particle Systems in the past with great results, but now I pretty much use Forest Pro 3. Riprap, driftwood, trees, scrub brush, and grass created using Forest Pro 3 and V-Ray proxies. 1000's of proxies...
